Chemical Industries Association (CIA)

Vision : Welfare and Sustainable Growth of Chemical Industries and the Society

CIA has been serving chemical industries for more than four decades as the industries’ knowledge partner and has been growing in its size with around 100 members.

CIA has been facilitating policy formulations through both State and Central government bodies and promoting development and deployment of appropriate strategies to execute for the benefit of all its stakeholders.

CIA supports the Government initiatives for chemical industries survival and growth and also for establishment of new industries by close coordination with appropriate departments / secretaries.    

CIA acts as a catalyst to spread the knowledge on latest developments and best practices in the chemical manufacturing industries and its associated service sectors such as consultancy, trading , equipment supply, contractors.

The Association has the reputation of being  forthright in its views on the matters that could directly or indirectly impact on industrial developments in the country.

Our voice has always been well received  as credible one among Government, NGOs and Industrials houses.

CIA acronym can be also explained in simple way as Cooperative , Intellectual , Action oriented entity.

CIA is a non-profit organization complying with  all statutory rules and regulations such as submission of accounts to  Income Tax authorities regularly. 

History

Chemical Industries Association (CIA) is a Registered Society under the “Registration of Societies Act 1975” and functioning from ISTE Professional Centre, No.25, Gandhi Mandapam Road, Kotturpuram, Chennai.

It was registered in the year 1980 in the name of Tamil Nadu Chemical Manufacturer Association and later it was changed to Chemical Industry Association in 1988.

Distinguished Chemical Industrialist from Chennai , namely Late Mr. S. Krishnaswamy of Southern Synthetics Ltd, Dr. R.M.Mohunta of Southern Nitro Chemical Ltd, Mr. N Venkateswaran of Aniline Chemical Industries, Mr. M.Parthasarathy of Pan Chrome Chemicals and Mr. Abhaya Kumar of Shasun Chemicals were some of the founding members of CIA who laid the road map and  bylaws for effective function of CIA whose contribution is thankfully acknowledged .

Many of the Small-Scale industries and Large-Scale industries are members of the association. Mr. P. K. N Panicker was the first President of the association for about 17 years and Mr. N.S Venkataraman of Nandhini Consultant served as Secretary for about 6 years.

Under the Presidentship of Mr.S.Ilanahai (Managing Director of Cetex Petrochemicals ) during 2015 to 2023,  CIA has witnessed significant growth in its services in multiple dimensions  by conducting many conferences, workshops, seminars  and gained goodwill with State Government and also with other industries associations

Any firm, company or other organization, manufacturers  of chemicals and  allied industries such as Consultants / Advisors,  Equipment Manufacturers for  Chemical industries,  can become members of the Association.

Any individual and other distinguished and eminent persons who are interested in the welfare of the chemical industry can also became Associate Members.
